How do you keep your creativity flowing over time?
As individuals in a “creative field”, we all are asked this question. Craft forms a good chunk of our profession, and it’s important to stay on top of it. This is what has worked for me so far -
💡 Do things in a different manner than your usual style. Find multiple ways to do your usual tasks.
💡 Keep your eyes open, and learn about everything around you. Surround yourself with inspiration and document it.
💡 Find time to play within the realms of your professional expertise. Do side-projects, and learn new techniques. It doesn’t matter what you learn as long as you’re learning.
💡 Do routine work – repeat, boring work. Maintain your files, document your projects, and clear your inbox. I always come out of exercises like this with several ideas.
💡 If you find yourself in a rut, allow yourself to be uninspired. No one can be on the top of the game forever and at all times. If you’re down, take a break.
And lastly, don’t stress over it. You can’t force creativity, whatever that means :)
